I believe that practicing veterinary medicine is a privilege and I am honored to serve the pet owners in the Asheville area. I have been practicing in Asheville as an emergency veterinarian since 2014. Prior to coming to Asheville, I spent two years in general practice in Pennsylvania. I earned my veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. My experience as an emergency veterinarian has given me a unique and beneficial perspective; I have treated the sickest emergency patients, and I have also filled in for family veterinarians when routine problems occurred at night. The benefits of preventative care and overall wellness are truly clear to me. My goal is to help your pet be as healthy and happy as possible, and hopefully avoid trips to the emergency room.

Supporting the bond between pets and their people is the most rewarding aspect of my job. I love seeing the joy and positive energy that comes from this bond. Pet owners make this bond possible and play a critical role in their pet’s health. Therefore, communication and building relationships with my clients are a major focus of my approach.
My wife is an Asheville native and still has family roots in town. We met in Pennsylvania and moved to Asheville after we finished our training. I was so impressed by the natural beauty of the area with its verdant landscapes and noble mountains. The decision to move here to raise our own family of two boys was easy. Having lived here since 2014, I now understand that Asheville's people and its culture are what truly make it special. I am extremely excited to launch Evergreen Veterinary Hospital in Asheville! I hope you will give me the opportunity to serve as a trusted partner in your pet's health.

When away from the hospital, Dr. Meyer enjoys gardening, hiking with his two dogs, Montgomery and Apollo, and watching Indiana University basketball.
